PRP Facial Rejuvenation: Our Staff Transformed
Well, I suddenly have found myself in that season of life when my children are no longer children. They grew up. My oldest is going to college and my youngest is 16 years old. How did that happen? How did they change so much when I haven’t changed at all! 😉
Look in the mirror, uh oh; maybe I have changed a little. Maybe there are a few fine eyes, otherwise known as “crow’s feet”. (What a horrible name for something on your face!) Maybe I see a few lines on my forehead, maybe a few around my mouth. Nothing dramatic, just a slight change in my skin to show the effects of having raised those two human beings.
Now I’m not one to call myself vain. I wear little makeup and prefer to keep my “beauty routine” at a minimum. I’m not willing to put myself, or my bank account, through what it takes invasively to look young my entire life. I believe that health and beauty are attained through diet and lifestyle, which shows from the inside out. I believe a peaceful heart makes for a peaceful face, thus fewer frown lines! But realistically, life is hard even when you appear to have it easy, and the results of aging do show in changes in skin tone, texture, and viability.
I was resigned to accepting this fact of life, even in a culture of Botox, puffy lips, synthetic dermal fillers, and plastic surgery. All of that was too artificial for my holistic natural approach to taking care of myself. And then there was PRP! And now there is the PRP Facial, otherwise known as the Vampire Facial. (Another horrible name for something for the face.)
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is something we have used in dental surgeries for a couple of years. It is the nutrient-rich portion of the blood that contains the growth factors for healing. Draw some blood out of the arm, centrifuge it to separate the PRP and apply it to any wound to multiply the existing healing properties by seven!
The process of a PRP facial is minimally invasive, utilizing microneedles to penetrate the skin after a topical anesthetic has been applied. A simple blood draw from the arm is then performed and the PRP is separated from the red blood cells in a centrifuge. The PRP is then applied to the face, adding a very high concentration of nutrient-rich cells that contain collagen producing growth factors. This all-natural regenerative treatment for anti-aging results in revitalized skin, leaving it refreshed and rejuvenated, slowing and reversing the common signs of aging in the skin. At Origin Dental Wellness, the entire team has excitedly had the initial course of 6 PRP facials. Now we can simply maintain our new skin with a facial every 3 months. We all agree that it is amazing to have the ability to harness our own body’s healing properties to benefit the health of our skin. We all look a little younger, our skin feels softer, and fine lines have absolutely improved!
We are so excited to be able to offer PRP Facials at Origin Dental Wellness. Not only do we have the honor of helping others attain optimal health of their bodies through the health of their mouths, we also now have the privilege to help our patients obtain optimal health of their skin using their own healing cells.
